POSITION SUMMARY |
|
The Environmental Services Technician (housekeeper) is responsible for preventing the spread of infection and providing a clean, safe, aseptic, and attractive environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Environmental Services Technicians routinely clean and disinfect all areas of the hospital, Surgical Operating Rooms and Procedure rooms, and clinic/legacy building following St Vincent Policy and Procedures. This can be inclusive of Acute Care Unit Patient rooms, registration areas, patient therapy areas, laboratory, Emergency room areas, waiting areas, Surgical operating rooms and procedure rooms, public and employee restrooms, hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, reheat kitchen, administration offices, and sleep rooms. Environmental Services Technician is also responsible for the disposal of garbage and medical waste following St Vincent Policy and Procedures. She/he may be required to perform tasks, which involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonably anticipated blood contamination. The Environmental Services Technician must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disinfecting and disposing or moving of objects/materials and/or the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood in accordance with St. Vincent policy and procedures. Environmental Services Technician is also responsible for floor care this includes dust mopping, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing. In addition to cleaning the Environmental Services Technician is responsible for doing laundry this includes transporting from building to building, sorting, loading and unloading washers, loading and unloading dryers, folding and stocking linen in the proper areas in all buildings according to St Vincent Policy and Procedures. Also Environmental Services technicians are responsible for cleaning and stocking of all Environmental Services closets including all upkeep of any equipment used by Environmental Services. All Environmental Services technicians may be required to complete tasks that may not be listed. |
